The Lions Eye Institute took the phrase “Knights of the Blind” from Helen Keller’s 1925 speech to the Lions and made it a part of their fund-raising efforts. It has become a Lion favorite-over 700 area Lions have become Knights of the Blind!
For a pledge of $500, which can be paid over a five-year period, an individual or business can become a Knight of the Blind. Upon completion of their pledge, they will receive a Knight of the Blind pin and a personalized certificate. Also, their name will be added to the Wall of Honor at the Lions Eye Institute.
While clubs can become Knights of the Blind, they can also name a Knight of the Blind. This is a great opportunity for a club to honor a current or former member or friend.
